Robbie,

That varies greatly with the processor, RAM, number of harddrives, case interior cooling capability, etc. I have an Athlon 2600+, 1.5GB DDR RAM, two harddrives, GEForce 5500(256MB) video, and indicate between 29 and 35 degrees Celsius. I run a very nifty little program down in my task bar that gives me the real time temperature. It will show the temps of all of your harddrives as well, along with the speed of any of the fans you have onboard it they have sensor capability. This was very handy when I lost my main case fan awhile ago. Here is the link:

The program is called Speed Fan and is free and not obtrusive to your system.

Hope this helps.

Jeff

P.S. If you start indicating 55-60C that is probably too hot, and, if it doesn't damage your CPU it will most likely blow some of those defective capacitors that we have had to deal with in all brands of motherboards.....but that is another story. Just keep the temp down and you will enjoy many years of happy computing.

I have my PC upstairs of my paint studio and am running the following. XP Home SP2, AMD Athlon XP 2000 +, 479 MB RAM. I keep it running all the time and prefer the windows open. Summer is getting here and not sure how hot I can let the room get before I need to put the A/C on the keep the system from getting to hot, or would running a fan keep it cool enough to prevent injury. Any imput would be appreciated.
Robbie
