If you get a system that has an invalid installation of windows then
you should seriously consider buying another system

PC with an OEM-XP-home is about the same cost as a retail XP Home
and ... you have a spare hard drive, and possibly DVD and memory to upgrade
the new system with
or - get a £10 USB housing for the hard drive and take a backup of the new
system's recovery partition!

(Already booked for Tuesday to replace a system with a naff hard drive - and
no recovery disks made - so it's a call into PC-World on my way there.

Fun will come when I ask the awkward questions
- what's your ISP logon and password,
.. and your email ??
- and where are your data backup disks???)
