A student has asked me about a power supply unit. Apparently he has an
oldish DELL with a P3 @1Ghz with a 200W power supply that's gone way
down south!
He cannot get a new unit except from DELL - apparently - as all the PSUs
he can fine only have the long translucent plug and the square 12v plug
and his has the long translucent one plus the older smaller white plug
with a 3.5v - 5v and gnd.
Now I have a 350w PSU without the smaller plug which it totally shafted
and a 300w unit that is OK but without the small plug so I have grafted
the small plug into the loom of it.
Having never really noticed these two plugs being used together I wonder
what the DELL spec is apart from talking to the local rubbish dump
(although I do hear they are getting slightly better).
