Well here is something else to chew over.
Sunday 13:00 the server has a really weird address like (but not exact)
268.38.249.47 so it couldn't reach the outside world nor could anyone
else on the network.
I reset it to 192.168.02 and it connected back to the router but I
couldn't get onto the Internet in any way. Checking the other 3
computers mine on 0.4 and Pearls on 0.5 were Ok but my backup server on
0.3 had the same problem with the Internet bit kept it's network
address.
on the server I restored the backup from last Monday and still no
Internet and the address was back to the silly land until I reconfigured
again and again and again.......?
I reinstalled XP again and still nothing so I ran the backup again and
still no Internet.
Then I decided to reinstall the router's firmware again and still the
same. Almost given up I thought I'll reboot just one more then it
looked just as it was all afternoon then I went to check the network
address by clicking on the network icon and suddenly I got another icon
saying "Internet now connected @ 8.1M"
Wow! did nuffin and there it was.......
My brain hurts!
one big glass of Jack Daniels later - still confused!
