Maybe - but if it's a BIOS password, then it may still be needed if the system has now recorded that the configuration has changed, and set a marker indicating that it needs to check what the hardware setup is !
(Systems usually need to read the drive parameters, but can bypass that if the drive hasn't changed from the last time it read them) You may be able to short out the bios, or get by with a 'factory bypass password' - 'dell' 'inspiron' etc. - Google search, or plead with the manufacturer Beware that there may be a 'multiplier' delay for every failed password request - 5 seconds, 20 , 80, 5 minutes etc...
