First thing I did when I got it home was flash the BIOS with the
latest version.

Check the Dell forums and their tech support site.
This is a bug that has been beaten to death for some time.
I have run into it twice in 2 years with our Dell laptops.
Maybe you'll find some updated information. I gave up and we used the
replacement drive in another chassis without encountering the issue.
