I understood that it was the same window that XP shows when you put in a
camera memory card or a blank CD.
If it happens when you switch the scanner on then it is asking because
it doesn't know and probably you should associate the scanner with a
program.
I have a canon scanner and really only use it within PaintShopPro
although I have called it from Word and Quark and Pagemaker and it's
automatically opened OCR software for Word.
My scanner is always on (USB) when the computer is on.
