Not quite hijacking Hugh's thread..

2 site visits today - both had recently installed Symantec internet security
2006

System 1 XP Home
(New 'Patriot' system with hard drive as 3 partitions
 - recovery, OS and data
but the user 'Documents and Settings' stuff is on the 'data' partition
so backup of the OS requires both partitions to be saved at the same
time!)

User cannot connect OE to the email POP3 or SMTP
 - email seems to get sent but doesn't go anywhere
User is 'Administrator level'
Turn off NIS email in and out AV checking and it works!
Turn on NIS email in or out AV checking and it don't work!
Help - link to Symantec support and .. .. ..
Symantec have a link to take you directly to a page to download a fixer
routine!

System 2
User is Limited, and cannot connect to send or receive OE email
Cannot check for similar problem by turning off the symantec facility as
userid is limited.
Logon as admin, and set that userid to Administrator
no problem - their email now works
Put user back to limited - email still working

I don't need any help with this any more as it's fixed, but hope the report
may help others!
