I think wayne's point is you come into this forum/list asking
for step-by-step explanations for EVERY issue, points well
covered in other places, we are here to resolve issues that
are OUT of the norm, not simple issues like a basic knowledge
of networking. We will gladly answer something as simple as
"how do I assign a static IP to a LAN connection", but to ask
WHAT is a static IP or WHAT is a LAN is not the point of this
list, we resolve, not educate (education happens by
saturation, ask the lurkers)

As a result, I can get from point A to point B in less time

I understand Wayne's point and I certainly don;t expect anyone to
take me by the hand and lead me, step-by-step, through a solution.
I asked for specific suggestions on where to learn what I need to
fill in the gaps and will persue Wayne's suggestions.
Speaking of resolving issues that are out of the norm, perhaps we
can go back to my original question which was something like,
"Why isn't this XP Home computer listed in Network Neighborhood?"
