Hello from a newbie.
I have an Advent 7041 laptop and cannot get it to boot into Windows. On start
up the POST process is carried out but then I get a black screen with an error
message suggesting the Hard disk boot record is invalid - press "H" to
continue, it then goes back to the start up procedure.
I have tried a bootable disk to get into windows, no success. I have also tried
reinstalling the OS but no luck.
I guess I will have to repair the MBR and have tried third party solutions but
am not sure how to use them. I can only use the external floppy drive to access
the machine or the CDdrive.
I have done DIR to check for files but cannot see ANY of the drives other than
the floppy.
This is generally what is occurring and I would love to have some help in
rectifying the problem.
