A long-delayed followup on this: I've found a very simple way that allows me to keep "fancy file sharing" enabled and still share the printer: I'm running a unix-style LPD on my main computer and connecting to it via an LPR local-port on my laptop. What's cool is that this is all standard windows stuff: you can get the LPD by going to add/remove programs/add windows components and it is right there [didn't even require my digging out the install CD]. Once I got that set up to run automatically (and told zonealarm that it was OK), I just configured my laptop with a "local port" of type "LPR", it connected right up to my desktop and the whole mess works like a charm. /bernie\ -- Bernie Cosell Fantasy Farm Fibers mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Pearisburg, VA --> Too many people, too few sheep <-- -- ---------------------------------------- The WIN-HOME mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
