Use the Redhat 2.2.16 SMP patch. It will patch correctly, but afterwards go
into the asm/ directory under your source tree, you will find a directory
that is supposed to be a symbolic link. Remove this directory and relink to
the i386 directory. I'm pretty sure the directory/link name was "linux" but
I'm not on my Mandrake machine right now, so can't tell you...I'll check up
and send more info...
Part of the make process creates this link, but cannot if it is a directory
(cannot link; file exists). I haven't tried removing this from the
Makefile, I just removed the offending directory, recompiled and everything
works OK...
