Hi all,
I managed to print to my print server today, but then wondered if this
was the right way to do it.
My setup is a RH 6.2 Linux box and then Win 98SE installed under Win4Lin.
I have a NetGear PS110 Ethernet based print server. When I went to install
Netgear's software, it complained that TCP/IP wasn't installed. While this
might be 'technically' true, as there was no Network Neighborhood installed
and no evidence of TCP/IP, obviously it is installed because I'm
communicating on my network.
I installed TCP/IP through the Control Panel, and bound it to the
'Existing NDIS Driver', which seemed like a strange thing to do, but it
worked. I was then able to install Netgear's software, find the server and
my printer, and then print correctly.
Was this the right way to do this? Is there a cleaner way? I am now
getting an small error message in the DOS boot window, but everything seems
to be working fine.
I look forward to any comments folks might have about doing this better.
Mark
