Hello Lynn.
With system access your license is tied to your account. In other words,
as soon as you log into System Access to Go with your account, or you
start System Access with an active internet connection, you will be
automatically using the full version you previously paid. I'm not sure
however what happens if you run it without an active internet
connection. Maybe the license is downloaded and stored locally so it can
be used offline. This is from when I had a System Access account, which
I no longer have.
As for Nvda it works excellent under Windows 8. Can't speak for the Sapi
5 query other than the default voices, which are very nice by the way,
works just fine.

Hello everybody
OK, I've done it! Tired of watching Gordon become frustrated when, for no
apparent reasons, speech and Braille responsiveness suddenly dies, Window-Eyes
freezes, but the rest of Windows still functions, so I just took the bull by
the horns, so to speak, and bought him a copy of System Access. We also plan to
install NVDA after removing Window-Eyes 7.5 which, it seems, is still stuck in
the dark ages even after the so-called upgrade to version 8. We certainly were
not prepared to pay them $299.99 for an upgrade just to have the privilege of
things which other screen-readers would appear to offer as standard anyway.
RDP or whatever remote protocol GW Micro is using these days is really not an
issue for Gordon, as 95% of his work is done on other platforms and in any
event, he no longer does remote management for others.
So, goodbye to the old, and hello to the new. Does anybody on list happen to
have experience with the latest version of System Access and, if so, how well
does it work? I'm confused actually because, although I bought him a copy of
System Access Mobile with a one-off payment, I didn't receive an activation
code with their invoice. So does it activate when you log in using your account?
I know for sure that there are some on list using NVDA. I also know that it is
Windows 8 compatible. But how usable do people find it under 8? Anybody used it
with existing SAPI5 such as the Acapella Group Infovox voices?
Lynne
