I cannot answer directly but can suggest a line of enquiry. Often the Camera scanners actually work by creating a folder of images of scanned pages in a folder which is named after the book name you have given in the scan.
If this is the case with the Pearl and Open Book then the latest version of Kurzweil will do a reasonable job of converting these to an RTF document. Oddly you do not have to load Kurzweil to do this. In Windows Explorer you hit the application key on the folder and select Recognise images with Kurzweil. Kurzweil will not load but will work in the background to create an RTF file within the folder with the same name as the folder. Within this rtf file the text will be formatted with one page allocated to each page scan which is useful if you need to keep a track on page numbers for referencing purposes. I use this as my preferred method of getting Kurzweil to work with the eyePal. However it should be remembered that Abbey Fine Reader will also do this, with equally useful results at a fraction of the price of Kurzweil. The only difference I find is that it does not work from the context menu of the folder but instead you have to open the folder, select the images and then select convert Images to Word with Abby Finereader as the option from the context menu. Abbey Finereader is, in my experience, just as accurate as Kurzweil, and actually superior to Kurzweil in preserving layouts, especially in relation to things like tables. I have never found Kurzweil able to work sensibly with Tables with Abbey finereader will make a valiant attempt. It may not get it right in all complicated layouts but often I get useful information out. Subject: K1000 and Freedom Scientific Pearl Hello everybody Does anybody happen to know whether or not the Freedom Scientific Pearl OCR solution will work with K1000? I don't know who to ask at Freedom, but it would be great if this combination of hardware and software would work together. The Pearl has some pretty useful features which I have not seen on too many main stream solutions, let alone an assistive one.
