I will give it a try. My basic Google Search page is certainly loading
faster after this change so hopefully it will do the trick.

try removing webvism that or u can leave it installed and disable 
everything except the capcha.
that is what I ended up by doing to fix that problem with me when I ran 
in to that issue, when I reverted back to the defaults with webvism I to 
ran in to the same simptoms
