If you don't want the emails sent to you, subscribe and then turn on the option to "Disable mail delivery".
No need, I subscribed to a bunch of lists and finally configured my Mozilla Mail's filters. Took me a grand total of five minutes.
The traffic is hardly a problem since I'm sitting behind a cablemodem and would've read the posts on the mailinglists anyway. But thanks for the suggestion.
