The machine is running the test suite, but doesn't have a valid $DISPLAY, causing the atl tests to fail. Several other tests will fail without a valid display. You're probably best off not having dpkg run the test suite (not sure if that's an option, a quick Google search didn't show anything), run it on a machine that has a working $DISPLAY (though other tests may fail), or disable the test suite with ./configure --disable-tests. -- -Austin
