Why does this remind me of "This is a Play," or whatever it was called from "Fahrenheit 451," where you would interact with the theatre on your vidscreen wall. This, needless to say, has less sinister connotations because of the social context, but the actors whispering line to the player just triggered something in me. Sorry about that. My bad. That said, I think this is a brilliant idea. Sounds like tons of fun with wide range of potential. Could keep a lot of people off the street as well. But then, isn't the plague doing that already?

I'll go home now.

Quoting David Ziegler <dziegle...@gmail.com>:

Hey everyone,

Our friends in the Rude Mechs (many Winedale alums!), are making this new
app and funding it through Kickstarter. It's called Cyrano Plays and they
are trying to reach $20K in the next two weeks. This is them being
cutting-edge, innovative, and trying to survive this nasty pandemic --
which prevents the thing we enjoy the most: live theater with our friends.

The app will let users download a play and then invite friends and family
over to perform it with them for free. They're almost done with their alpha
phase right now and the more they can raise, the better the app will be for
beta release - hoping for December 4th - and full launch on December 18th -
right in time for the holidays. Over the past year they've been playing
with the idea in pre-alpha with Jim Greer, a founder of Kongregate,
throwing parties with people to see how it could work best. Since September
they've been working with programmers and designers in Austin to build it
out. Their debut play on the app is called A Karaoke Christmas Carol.

They've been testing it out and they swear it's a blast! When it's all
ready to go you'd just download the app, open up the play, and choose your
role. Then pop in your earbuds, press play, and professional actors whisper
in your ear so you become the star of the show. Say what you hear, do what
you’re told and get a unique, hilarious, memorable evening. Here's the
kickstarter link with their video, which I think is pretty fun, and all the
info.

Please spread the word, and give them your cold hard cash if you can.

Thanks, friends!
David / Zig
