I suspect you'd like to have something like this.
http://status.geneseo.edu/wireless/
This is based on snmp, rrd, cgi, and some time with a packet sniffer watching how WILMA and the AP Manager tools pull data from the points.
All of SUNY Geneseo's access points are lucent/avaya/agrere/orinoco wireless access points - WP-II's, AP500s, AP1000s and AP2000.
Like Michael Griego ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) indicated, the WP-IIs, AP500s and AP1000 are all pretty easy to get this information out of. I chose to do this with rrd. I am also very frustrated that info doesn't come easily out of teh AP2000s. To handle the AP2000s, what I did was send the snmp string that shows the nodes you could do a link test with, but it is very unreliable and simply doesn't really do the same as what you get from polling all the associated stations from the AP1000s, 500s and WP-IIs.
If you like what I've got I can tar it up and make it available...

Hello,
I am seeking feedback about how different universities are monitoring wireless base stations.
Here at the University of Melbourne we currently have around 65 Avaya AP-3 and around a dozen Cisco Aironet 350, and a handful of AP-1000s. What I would like to do is to produce MRTG style graphs for each base station showing how many users are connected and when. This will show where the most popular locations are and at what times.
Are others doing this ? Are there commercial products / tools available that can do this ? / Can it be done over different platforms ?
Thanks in advance,
Phill Solomon
