My aim is to identify non-broadcasting SSIDs from the RF side. Sounds like a Kismet-like sniffer is what I'm looking for. Now...I'm also interested in a spectrum analyzer function to identify other 2.4g interference...2.4 phones etc. Any suggestions? .....thanks again........J On Fri, 12 Mar 2004, Philippe Hanset wrote: > If it's broadcasted it's in the AP's beacon, > if it's not broadcasted, clients will send it to challenge the AP (not > just an XP thing, that's part of the standard) The second case will > require a user joining, a sniffer, and patience! > > here is a site that provides all flavors of sniffers: > http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/WirelessSniffer > > Philippe Hanset > University of Tennessee > > > On Fri, 12 Mar 2004, James Savage wrote: > > > Hi, > > Has anyone found a method of identifying the presence of hidden > > (non > > broadcast) SSIDs?
