We've created (or are in the process of coding) a guest access system.
Basically it's just a front end to create guest users in our Radius server
(which the portal uses along with LDAP for authentication) that can be
created "on-the-fly". All university faculty/staff will be able to create
these guest accounts and hand them to their guests when the arrive on campus
(thinking of conferences).

Of course, for non-conference style guests, they could simply be logged in
by their friend who has a valid university login/password combination.
