We used dynamic channel and power settings of Cisco WLC's for a while until one day for some unknown reason all the channel decided to use 1(may be an extreme case of wide are interference!). Ever since I manually set up both Power and Channels. We also have a distributed Antenna system so it seems like the most stable way so far. Assuming you are using 802.11b/g the only non-overlapping channels you can use are 1,6,11 in theory.

We have tried to be careful in spacing out APs and picking one of these three channels where it seems appropriate to prevent interference from one another. A question was posed by someone in my staff about using the "least congested channel" setting instead of going through all the trouble of determining and setting the channel. So, the questions are... 1. What are you other institutions doing about channel selection on your Access Points? 2. If you are using 3, 6, and 11, what is your strategy for use and what problems and/or successes have you seen? 3. If you are not using 3, 6, and 11, why not? What are you doing? And what problems and/or successes have you seen? Any input is appreciated. Thanks, D.
