I think this was mainly meant for marketing and hardware specific
sales. Based on my detailed discussions with the ASE, it has to be
designed well in order to handle the RF and all the lovely things
people bring in.
Hector, on your post I would reply with the RF will be an extreme
challenge for design but for also your day-to-day, as you have
listed. Cisco does have their 3500 series with Spec An like
functions built in. Yes I use it, and yes I understand the RF
aspects that this hardware does well and that it doesn't do many
things well. It was built for a specific purpose, and some of the
features are yet to be available (I'm guessing with that last
statement). There are several other type of devices out there, and
one I've grown found of over the last few months is the AirMagnet
Enterprise. I've used AirMagnet products for years, but just
recently purchased the AME line and 10 sensors. Pretty remarkable
stuff really.

Over last summer I
installed wireless in our Residence halls, long overdue
obviously. Anyways, part of the project was to bring in
an expert in wireless for two weeks. I personally have
been designing wireless networks since 1997 and didn't
necessarily think we needed the "extra gun" but for a good
sanity check I thought it would be good idea. I decided
to hire an Advanced Services guy through Cisco (really I'm
not plugging Cisco here, I'm advocating their service).
The guy in question was a friend of mine who years ago
worked for someone else, which is how I met him. To make
a long story short, this really is the only "expert" I
know and trust.
Once he was onsite we certainly used him for the reason he
was here, but during lunch hours and other down time, we
discuss LOTS of design ideas, including our outdoor
Football stadium and our Basketball stadium. Granted, we
don't have the seating some of you have stated here but I
wanted the design ready for when I get asked....still not
asked, yet. I'm sure some day I will be, and I'm ready
for the design.
All of this being said, their AS wireless team have a
pretty remarkable track record with large stadiums. I
can't for the life of me remember the few he quickly
named, but in general they were NFL stadiums. If they can
design for something that large, they can certainly design
your areas.
I would gladly discuss my history, design/architecture,
wireless stories, but would also prefer "off list".

I know there are plenty of

and what solution(s) you used.
I’d like to talk in detail
off list, and possibly arrange for a site visit
if the venue is close enough in scope to our own
to be of value.

No offense. )
