Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Ubiquiti per dorm room WIFI

No. The wired ports are not being used much. I would say wired usage is the
same as before or a bit less. The only students that used wired were students
that brought an extra desktop computer (we have a 1 to 1 laptop program),
maybe a gaming station or the WIFI was crap in their room so they needed to
plug in. With WIFI in every room now the RF is not an issue so the last
mentioned reason is off the table.

Most rooms have a port per pillow with a drop on each side of the room. I see
that changing on the next dorm renovation. I bet we just drop in 1 port for
the IN-WALL WIFI and forgo the second wired port.

When you think about it for the students it is their home experience that
drives us to make WIFI better. I don't think many think of a wired port as a go
to.
