Sandy, We put UPS backup on every switch/stack on our 13 campuses to support VOIP phones in the event of a power outage for a minimum of 15 minutes. Some campuses have a generator, and the UPS is only there to buffer.
As for our switching, all edge switches are HP/Aruba which carry lifetime warranties.
