Looking for a good Wireless Access Point that supports 802.11b that also has
an External Antenna connection.
I only have experience with the D-Link AP-900DWL. I saw these on sale at Fry's for $80 ea. a few months ago and bought a pair. I picked up a two foot pigtail to N-female for $25 more from www.fab-corp.com, but I've not yet needed to add an external antenna... So far, these have both run fantastic. I pick them up clearly across a 2000 foot valley using the built-in antenna of the D-Link, and a homebrew cantenna connected to a laptop on the other end (clear line of site, no obstructions). Two of my neighbors pick them up strong through a couple of walls with similar cantennas... The connector is a 'Reverse Polarity SMA' type, which is reasonably common to find adapters, cables, and such for...I believe these use a common Atmel chipset, same as WAP11 and others, and support SNMP (I have like 4 different configuration programs that work on them)...

If you are price sensitive and want something cheap that works well, but maybe is not built like a tank or is missing a couple premium features, then: RECOMMENDED
