I used a 16dB version from another company and it worked pretty good. I was able to get a signal at about 180 degrees instead of the 30 degrees that it claimed. I made it about half a mile at that angle in a non line of site situation. I was trying to get a signal at a little over a mile (non line of sight) with the antenna pointed straight at it and it didn't work. I was also using a 200mW card with a 5dB and an 8dB omni both plugged into it and mounted on top of my ride but no go. I was also using it as a refference when making a homebrew waveguide and I only got 3 more decibles from the commercial version than I did from a $2.00 can of soup and some wire. Go Figure.
