I don't think you find similar features for the same price point. Especially if you're looking for a re-producible project. You could certainly hit a surplus store or eBay for a few dozen comparable boards (or laptops). Remember, Soekris already has memory on-board, CF support (no need for IDE/ATAPI to CF adapter), native 12v support, MiniPCI, etc. PC104, EPIX, etc. boards just don't have these features.
