Hi All,
I want guidance on where and how to get the WiFi WPA Documentation ?
Do we need to pay to get the specification and related documentation of WPA
?
You can get the WPA doc on the Wi-Fi Alliance web site for $25. It refers a
lot to 802.11i draft 3.something, which you can get on the IEEE website
(using the 802.1 credentials works for 802.11 docs).802.1X is something that really happens "on top" of any 802 media (all 802.1X packets are regular 802 packets with a specific Ethertype), so it needs the media to be working first, so it currently happens after association. I haven't followed the latest adventures of TGi, but I think there was some talk of being able to do the authentication before association, not sure what the status of that is. But current 802.1X implementations all have authentication happen after association. Also can anyone please detail me on the message sequence for 802.11 with 802.1x/EAP Authentication. I am not clear as when actually does 802.1x Authentication begin, is it before or after 802.11 Association ?
Jacques.
