I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 router that is more or less a 'spare' as far as far as my home needs go. I have been going to sell it but I keep finding uses for it so I keep it. Last night I took it to a local Mac users group meeting and set it up plugging the WAN port into an ethernet outlet in the school with a patch cable and then had a couple of patch cables into the LAN ports for the couple of attendees whose laptops didn't have Airport cards.
All night long the connections kept going up and down both RF and wired. The router would loses its school network assigned IP address, the local laptops would lose and never regain the Linksys assigned IP addresses. There was no rhyme or reason to it. I brought up a Konfabulator Widget on my iBook that gave me a very visible from a distance signal strength display and it was up and down every few minutes .... Anyone have any idea what was going on. I have never had any problem with it in the past! there were 6 wireless stations and two wired. The BEFW11S4 had its original firmware 1.37b and today I downloaded but haven't yet flashed 1.44.2 yet. Will that help any? Cheers ...
