Hi there, I'm a newbie to this wireless stuff. Does anyone out there have experience using the IOXperts Mac OS 9 driver for the Engenius NL-2511 card?
The equipment I'm running is: - PowerBook G3 "Wall Street" (Family Number M4753) running OS 9.2.1 - Engenius NL-2511 CD Plus Ext2 PCMCIA card with a 2.0 dBi clip-on antenna - an Airport base station in the coffeeshop down the street Also, does anyone know if there is any sort of "Stumbler-style" software that works with the equipment listed above? Some sort of software that gives more info as far as channels, SNR's, encryption, etc? The MacStumbler and ClassicStumbler software all needs AirPort/WaveLAN cards. Background info: - I have not tried to update the firmware on the card, since the card is brand new and I don't have a Windows laptop at my disposal. - The AirPort base station mentioned above doesn't register on the signal strength meter even when I'm seated 5 feet away. - I'm told that this particular AirPort network is called "wireless network" and they have a five letter password. - I have been able to pick up other signals on the "signal strength" meter through your driver, but I haven't been able to connect to any of these access points, including the Netgear MR814 in my home. I think I must be missing something. The only other 802.11b stuff I've done has been on Windows laptops, and I've been able to get it working... configuring the routers and cards... but the software for those cards allowed you to see channels, SSID's, etc... am I missing something, a "key piece" with this driver? Thanks for your time. -Norm. -- general wireless list, a bawug thing <http://www.bawug.org/> [un]subscribe: http://lists.bawug.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless
