For the record: Netgear's firmware for this card is available in two flavors:

WG511 Driver Version 1.1 AKA WG511v11
(shipping version?)

WG511V1.6 Release (Official 802.11g draft 8.2 compliant) AKA wg511v16
ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/wg511v16.zip

As you might have guessed from their 802.11g compliance note, the newer version interoperates with the AirPort Extreme when WEP is enabled while the older version does not.

I have not tested with the new AirPort firmware (WPA enabled) but expect that it will work as well.

HTH.

Anyone have success or failure connecting these two radios using WEP?

Everything works in the clear but as soon as WEP is turned on the
client won't connect (just this one, the Macs in the office work fine,
don't have another card to test). The Netgear software seems to pause
for a second when it scans past channel 10 but then goes right back to
randomly searching for the network.

Tried updating to Apple's Base-Station firmware 5.1.3 (Non WPA) and 5.2
(WPA Enabled) and both 64 and 128 bit keys and no luck so far. The
client is a Win2K laptop.

Alf
