This isn't exactly a wireless problem, but it involves a wireless product. I have an Apple Airport Base, the so-called "Snow" version (after the gray and before the Extreme). It has firmware revision 4.0.8.
I cannot seem to make "Manually assigned address with DHCP" to work with it. I have used it (manual + DHCP) with my iBook elsewhere to other branded routers but it does not seem to work from my iBook to the Airport. I tried today with my Linux box using ifconfig to manually request a specific address with the DHCP broadcast and the same thing happens, the request goes through, no error is returned, the local box takes the new address, and then nothing, you can ping local boxes but the path across the router to the outside world is dead! Is this a known problem? cheers ... BBR -- general wireless list, a bawug thing <http://www.bawug.org/> [un]subscribe: http://lists.bawug.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless
