You definitely want a directional antenna as that will maximize your gain,
reduce interference from others as well as reducing interference TO others
(and improve security!) No antenna works as well indoors as outdoors, but
for fixed, point to point communications you can't beat a directional
antenna.

Save yourself some money and some transmission line losses and build a
parabolic reflector to place behind the existing WET11 antenna. You can use
any reflective material from metallic window screen to chicken wire to
aluminum flashing to foil. The only two factors with which to concern
yourself are the shape, position and size. Take a look at what Michael
Erskine has done:

Subject: [BAWUG] Linksys WET-11 - Antenna to increase range?

I have a Linksys WET-11 v1 I'm using to connect to a D-Link AP that exists
in another building in my apartment complex. Based on the length of the
factory antenna I guess it is a 5 dbi antenna.

I can get a signal from the D-Link but its weak and disappears often. Can
anyone recommend an antenna that will get me a better signal? Should I go
for a directional or omni? What dbi gain? I'm not sure exactly which
direction to point the directional but I figure I could find it by trial and
error. Will a directional work indoors?

I was recommended this antenna by a technician at hdcom.com:

I was recommended this by the sales guy at another site:
http://www.wisp-router.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_46&products_id=152

I've also read one post by a bawug user who said he had good luck with a 8
dbi omni on his WET11 but didn't say which one he bought.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tony
