[BAWUG] WET11, meta issue

Someone just pointed out the repeater function in the WET11. My 
question is, will this work with any other AP or is this a 
proprietary extension of the 802.11 spec that requires another 
LinkSys device as the main AP?

Additionally, I have asked about 802.11b repeaters several times and 
never received an answer. None. Not even, "go away." Can someone 
answer why? Even, "because we don't like you," would be useful 
information.
