WRT54GS runs linux and has aftermarket firmware from http://www.sveasoft.com

That can bump the power to 254mW and looks to be totally customizable. I love mine...

I am looking for APs that I can load linux/bsd onto, and then port RoofNet
to. Which means I need wifi devices supported by with madwifi or hostap. I
also am looking for APs with a fair amount of ram - 32mb is good, I am not
sure that 16mb can do it. 4mb of flash is probably the minimum, 8mb of
flash would be nice. So far I'd found the NetGear WGT634U Linksys WRT54GS
have 32mb/8mb, the former with Atheros chipset and the latter with Prism3.
Anything about either of these units I should know of? Or are there others
to add to this list? Has anyone messed about with the XR range extender
technology on the WGU624?

Also, I've heard that the WGT624 has a nice 100mw output. But finding out
what wifi chipset, how much ram & flash, etc. has been difficult. Anyone
know these specs?
