In a nut shell, Patrick (yes Patrick) has come up with a program specifically aimed at the WISPs. We'll get volume discounts of over 70% (can't remember the exact number) with purchases of a whopping 25 units per QUARTER. There are additional discounts that add to this depending upon how many WISPs overall purchase the gear. Very cool stuff.

I saw the program and said "Hell, *I* can do that!" I got a big grin out of Patrick with that one. hehehehe

It'll take a while for us to install enough APs to drive that kind of volume for me. I do more volume than that as it is, but I'll not be putting VL at all 20 tower sites over night. Certainly something to think about for our bigger sites though.

I really like this program. Finally I don't feel like my business is being used to subsidize the bigger (read telco) players.

My hope is that this program will set a precedent in the market place. We may be small but we're growing, fast. There were more 1000 and up WISPs at ISPCon than you could shake a stick at. Very cool.

Now we have to wait and see if Alvarion can stick with this program for the next 3 years so that the market has time to install the base stations needed to really make this new model shine.

Thanks again Patrick. Your loyalty to our industry segment is much appreciated!

It was great to see ya. The beard really does have to go though! Makes ya look oooollldddd... cackle

Subject: [WISPA] Alvarion is Back!!!

Those who were not there, (WISPA meeting), some extremely exciting news was released by Alvarion. The details of the Comnet program. Clearly the most exciting news from the show.
I can't even begin to communicate the impression that it made.
There could not have been a stronger message that they want WISPs as their customer.
A WISP will NEVER again use the excuse that they can not afford Alvarion.
Since this is a public list, I'll leave the details, for WISPs to discover when checking out the program.
But I will hint by saying, it enables Alvarion for residential.
Its a pretty hard sell, NOT to switch.
