I have and still do, in some cases, long, (100ft+), cable runs. LMR-400 is the minimum cable size for that on 2.4GHz. You will need an amp.
At 5GHz, I would expect LMR-600 or better. However, at 5GHz, I think I would go with tower top radios. I doubt that you will get good results at 5GHz with that kind of cable run. RG8 cable is useless for anything we do as wisps.
