My iPhone is also jailbroken...tethered to a notebook I see 2Mbps+ down, but uploads can vary from 80Kbps-200Kbps up.
I use remote desktop while on the road or out in the field throughout DFW and North Texas and both AT&T and my old Sprint Data card work very well.
