I use RAID 5 with a hot spare on all servers. I backup to online service once a
week Sat Night (changes only). But Backup to eSata HD nightly. 800 Mbs image
transfer compared to 1-2 Mb with online upload backup if you're lucky. Full
server image backup with verify and SQL. <30min with open files.

Is anyone using RAID with redundancy? Or is the backup more intended to protect
against catastrophic failure (lightning, fire etc) which would wipe out
multiple drives as easily as a single drive?

Seems like RAID combined with off site backup would be the easiest. No physical
drives to lug around.
