If you are leaving the SSIDs the same, you will probably want to put minimum signal levels in the new APs so CPEs don't jump around if they are on the edge. We have well over 100 MT APs and I have never setup WDS. Not really sure what it would do for us. When we do 3 RB433s we usually put all 3 port 1 into a switch and then use ports 2 and 3 to do cross connects between the boards that if an interface goes down, the AP still runs. OSPF handles getting stuff out the correct port.

Have another brand of access point (2GHz/BGN) that we want to replace with 3 Mikrotik RB433 in separate Itelite sector antennas (radios mounted inside of the antenna enclosure). They will have R52Hn radio cards in them. What is the preferred way to set those up? If possible, we would like to keep the same ESSID as the old AP and have them the same so that the mixed clients will automatically connect without a truck roll. Is this possible? WDS the recommended way? Better way to do it? Each area serviced by an access point is a separate /24 routed RFC 1918 network.

Thanks

Grant
