Hello,

On the latest version of Wireshark (3.2.0), when I right click on the “Packet
List” columns header, the pop-up menu with the list of defined columns
available to display shows also the columns type/fields on the right of the
column title, whereas before only the columns title was displayed, as seen here
(https://www.wireshark.org/docs/wsug_html_chunked/ChWorkDisplayPopUpSection.html).

This results on the columns list pop-up menu being unusable for quick selection
of columns in my case, as I have many defined, some of which with many fields.

See for example here (https://imgur.com/rM78Gxy) how my columns currently show
on the pop-up menu. The last visible column is "MNC", however the list
continues to the right, because I have many more columns as see on the Column
Preferences here (https://imgur.com/9e6fRcW), however the rest of the columns
no longer show due to the added fields and the horizontal split of the list.

I understand that this is new standard behavior was added here
(https://code.wireshark.org/review/#/c/35088/,
https://code.wireshark.org/review/#/c/35214/) and this is a good feature
overall, but it would be good to have either add a preference to disable the
functionality or change how the columns are displayed on the pop-up menu, e.g.,
show the complete list of columns on a single scrollable vertical list instead
of splitting them on multiple non-scrollable colums which make it unusable when
there are many columns, as in my case.

Let me elaborate: I regularly analyze packet captures with various different
protocols with many fields, so to help me I have 150+ custom columns defined
and I regularly switch between them depending on the capture; when only the
column title was displayed on the pop-up menu the many column titles were split
on various columns instead of a continuous scrollable list, and that was ok
because all columns would show up; however, with the columns fields added now
to the pop-up menu and the same multi-column display being maintained,
basically the columns on the right basically disappear and are not usable,
hence if the pop-up menu display would be changed to a vertical scrollable
list, instead of horizontal non-scrollable, that could solve the problem.

I hope I could explain it. :)

Thank you,
Hax.
