Greame, the -T option enables tagged type support. Let's have MyType ::= [APPLICATION 5] INTEGER without -T the tag is just ignored. With -T the tag is handled and dissect_ber_tagged_type() is called The -T will be removed and tagged types will be support by default later when we are sure that it does not break any existing dissector.

I identified my problem with x420 and the -X flag - a small typo in packet-ber.c (see attached patch) - which was shown up by an APPLICATION tag in a SET e.g. (thisIPM in x420.asn) I haven't checked the patch in as I am not totally sure it is the right solution - but now x420 works with my captures again. Will continue to look at my other dissectors. BTW, can you tell me when I should be using the -T flag? (x420 works both with and without it.)
