Are you using a Marvell Yukon NIC on Windows 7 by any chance? If so, this triggers a crash in Wireshark 1.2.x. You can work around the problem by installing Wireshark 1.0.10 or Wireshark 1.3.2-SVN-30846 or later from http://www.wireshark.org/download/automated/.
