With, i do some game development myself, you guys might be interested in SDL, its a cross platform multimedia library. SDL stands for "simple direct media layer" and supports just about every OS under the sun: "Linux, Windows, BeOS, MacOS Classic, MacOS X, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, BSD/OS, Solaris, and IRIX". Its basicly a thin wrapper to whatever graphics interface is available on the OS. For instance, in linux/unix/bsd it can use X or frame buffer, and in windows it uses directx. You can write a game on one platform and easily compile it on any of the other supported platforms. In fact, the hardest thing about compiling it for the other platforms is making a makefile for that OS since makefiles vary widely from OS to OS.
its real cool and im real happy w/ it, i think you guys could be as well. http://www.libsdl.org/index.php PS it is open sourced and released under the GNU LGPL so it doesnt incur any extra monetary overhead to use it commercialy (: ----- Original Message ----- From: Ben Johansen To: 'WiTango List' Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2003 11:34 AM Subject: Witango-Talk: Announcement - Witango new direction Note: Please read all of this email Exciting News!!!
