Stability and speed is definitely improved. What sort of cron problems are you having? Problems creating the file or getting it to execute? We created a Crontab Editor that works on T2K and v5 on just about any platform to view/modify or create cron entries. Let me know off-list if you're interested as that's something we provide our customers.

As for executing files via cron, we've had a lot of success with that and if you can't find answers in the archives, we'd be happy to talk to you about it.
