Look thru the ImageMagick web site. They have a bunch of APIs. There's probably one that's easy to use on Windows.

Here's one way that is easy, fast, and free (on Linux). Maybe not
quite as easy on OSX. Can also do this on Windows, but you probably
need ActivePerl.
install ImageMagick
install PerlMagick
install perl module Image::Info
use an external action to invoke a perl script that gets the dimensions.
