Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm still having trouble.

If I set up the mail server as an open relay, I can send messages out, but
only to addresses in our own domain. And we instantly get spammers using the
open relay.

If I set it up to require authentication I get the following error from
Witango4: [Error] [16] -326 An invalid From address was specifed.

>From Witango5 I get: [Error] [17] -326 An invalid From address was specifed.
Error addressing email from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: 530 5.7.3 Client
was not authenticated

How do I set the SMTP server up to trust the Witango servers? It's on the
same machine as the Witango5 service.

Thanks
Dave

I don't know if this helps, but we had to specify the IP address of our mail
server *and* use the port 587.

The only problem we _had_ (and fixed) was sending FROM a domain not
registered by our mail server.

All email must be from a valid domain. If using any person's email for
messages, make the "from:" be the valid domain and set them as "reply-to"
(custom header) and probably as CC or BCC.
