Quoting Neel Basu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: First of all: you should not mix packages from two distributions (stable and unstable), as there may (and will) be binary compatibility issues. That's probably the reason why upgrading debhelper to 7.0.17 is breaking havoc in your system. What you should do is upgrade your system to Debian Testing or Debian Unstable (i. e. update /etc/apt/sources.list, then apt-get full-upgrade).
That being said, here comes a workaround. The Wt packages require debhelper 6.0.7 or newer because they use dh_lintian. If you are building the packages yourself instead of installing from Debian Unstable: * Edit witty-2.2.0/debian/rules and comment the "dh_lintian" line * Edit witty-2.2.0/debian/control and in the "Build-Depends" field, replace "debhelper (>= 6.0.7) with "debhelper" (i. e. remove the required version). I have not tested that but that should work for you. The only side-effect of doing that is that if you run lintian on the resulting .deb packages, they will show a warning about "package does not match library sonames" but it will work fine. Please note the final packaging for Wt 2.2.0 available doing $ dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/w/witty/witty_2.2.0-1.dsc Soon, it will be uploaded to the archive and binaries will be available. > I am using debian stable. > however I've installed the latest boost and other unsatisfiable > dependancies from unstanle and experimental reposetory. > but it also requires debhelper (>= 6.0.7) > I currently have 5.0.42 Installed in my system. > 7.0.17 is available on unstable reposetory. > > but if I install it from unstable repo it removes a lot of other packages > without which I cant work > <pre> > The following packages will be REMOVED: > abiword-gnome adept adept-installer adept-manager adept-notifier > adept-updater balazar cupsys-dbg devscripts fast-user-switch-applet > gnome-applets gnome-control-center gnome-core gnome-menus gnome-office > gnome-panel gnome-session graphviz kde kde-amusements kde-core kde-devel > kdeaddons kdebase kdebase-dev kdebase-kio-plugins kdelibs4-dev > kdenetwork-dev kdepim kdesdk kdm kdmtheme kmail kmailcvt kmplayer-plugin > konq-plugins konqueror korn kspy kwin-baghira libkonq4-dev libopal-2.2.0 > libperl5.8 nautilus nautilus-cd-burner openoffice.org openoffice.org-base > openoffice.org-calc openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-draw > openoffice.org-impress openoffice.org-kde openoffice.org-math > openoffice.org-writer python-gmenu python-gnome2-desktop > python-gnome2-extras python-gst python-rpm python-soya python-uno > streamtuner swf-player yum > </pre> > > so wht to do now ?? > > -- > Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > _______________________________________________ > witty-interest mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/witty-interest > -- Pau Garcia i Quiles http://www.elpauer.org (Due to my workload, I may need 10 days to answer) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ witty-interest mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/witty-interest
